the crazy guy

Dave Chant has visited 50 countries, walked across Spain and climbed 2 of the Seven Summits – the highest points on each continent – namely Kilimanjaro and Aconcagua reaching heights of 7000metres. Previously he has trekked in the Annapurna and Everest regions of Nepal.

Planned attempts in 2020 on three of the other Seven Summits – Denali in Alaska, Elbrus in Europe and Puncak Jaya in Oceania – have been delayed due to the Coronavirus pandemic. An attempt on Everest is also pending in 2023.

As well as a keen hiker, he has spent 6 Winters living in the mountains of Italy and loves to ski. Paddleboarding has become an increasing passion of his since starting on a board in the Summer of 2020.

He has finished his recent job in TV Production to spend 4 months preparing and taking on SUP It & Sea.

the crazy girl

Sophie has the privileged role of learning about peoples lives and experiences in her role as a Celebrant. A position that is always fascinating, it is a calling that has given her even more appreciation for the fantastic experiences that life has to offer and allows her the flexibility to enjoy her passions of hiking, swimming and Paddleboarding on a regular basis.

After initially taking up Paddleboarding on a whim, it soon became a passion, or some may say an obsession of Sophie’s as well as a healthy coping mechanism.

After many years following other adventures, SUP It & Sea will be her first expedition with further ones already percolating behind the scenes, including one that combines her love of hiking and paddling.

Sophie’s Motto: Just Try

expedition & community patron

Jordan Wylie is a former British soldier turned adventurer and bestselling author. He is probably best known as one of the stars of the Channel 4 BAFTA nominated and award winning shows Hunted and Celebrity Hunted.

Jordan attempted in 2020 to become the first person in the world to successfully circumnavigate Great Britain by paddleboard. He spent longer and paddled further at sea on a Standup Paddleboard in 2020 than anyone ever has before. For over 149 days and a grand total of 2377km, he lived on the ocean.

Most importantly though, Jordan has raised over £90,000 through this feat. Jordan is inspiring the next generation using the spirit of adventure and has built a new school on the Horn of Africa through the charitable fundraising of this incredible mission for children displaced by conflict and war in Yemen and Somalia.

Jordan is our expedition Patron. He has been generous with his time, advice and support backing our expedition.

PHOTOGRAPHER/SUPPORT CREW

Mandy volunteered two weeks of her time to start our expedition off in Cornwall and Devon, tracking us across the sea and taking some stunning photos of us coming on and off the beautiful beaches of the two counties.

To find out more about Mandy’s photography or to book her services, check out her Facebook and Instagram links above.

PHOTOGRAPHER/SUPPORT CREW

Mike came on board for two separate weeks to photograph us coming off the beach at Portishead to travel under the iconic Severn bridges and then to land at Sharpness to start our journey along the canals. He shot photos and drone photography through the canals and the River Severn to Kidderminster. On his second week he helped us cross the notorious Solway Firth to Scotland and make headway West.

To find out more about Mike, check out his website and Facebook pages above.

CHIEF MOTIVATOR/CHEESE BUYER

Joe Glombek – Software developer. Kayak instructor. SPOT Tracker Fixer. Cheese Buyer.

Joe is a man of multi-talents who came to support us on our journey for 2 weeks at the end of the canals and the journey back out onto the sea and through Blackpool and the Lake District.

SUPPORT CREW

Fresh off a Lake District holiday paddling, Jon agreed to spend his 2nd week of annual leave getting us round the Mull of Galloway and into distance of the Firth of Clyde.

SUPPORT CREW

Liz helped us out when we were scratching our heads trying to figure out how to jump Bute and get the support van over too. It was a logistical nighmare and she made it easy!

Then Liz gave us a week of her time, helping us through the Crinan Canal up past Oban and within miles of Fort William.

It didn’t help that she’s a dab sailor herself with great knowledge of the area.

SUPPORT CREW

Martin and Kevin came as a package deal. The brothers first met us at Urquhart on the shores of Loch Ness and just helped make it to the end at John o’Groats. In fact, it was touch and go whether we were going to be able to finish the paddle before they had to leave us to return home (a whopping 12hr drive away!)
